At this year’s Ukraine pavilion, we’re excited to introduce QPM (Quantum PM), a participant offering a valuable automation tool for game developers. Let’s get to know what they provide and how they view the current state of the Ukrainian market.

New Era of Project Management

QPM is an ecosystem of strategic and operational management. Our founders and team worked in the GameDev industry, so we know the main pain points of the market.

The system is designed to overcome the limitations of existing products and provide businesses with a tool to help them meet deadlines and delivery dates by automating recurring tasks.

Major Hurdles in the Game Development Industry

In recent years, the number of products in a single category competing for consumer attention has grown exponentially—from just five to now hundreds or even thousands. Over 31 billion emails are sent daily, making it difficult for genuine messages to break through the noise, often drowned out by spam from inexperienced marketers and salespeople. This is the main challenge—finding channels that can be automated and scaled.

Other significant challenges include:

  • Market Instability: The market is vulnerable to potential collapse.
  • Cooling Investor Expectations: There is a growing skepticism about the transition to the 6th technological paradigm and the commoditization of AI.
  • Post-COVID Effect: Businesses have run out of COVID money, which has led to cost reductions and industry growth slowdowns.
  • Reduced Consumer Spending: In the US and EU, decreased consumer spending is already impacting profits across industries, including gaming.

How We Adapt to Industry Trends and Challenges

There are challenges that we cannot influence, and we need to adapt. Gamers are growing interested in high-quality, large-scale projects. On some, such as tool inefficiencies, it is possible and necessary. Studios, like most businesses, have to use and pay for 2-5 tools for the project management process. This is a lot of wasted time, routine, and money.

QPM takes care of any actions a person needs to complete more than twice, eliminating routine and repetitive tasks so teams can focus on achieving strategic and business goals. This will allow businesses and studios to focus more time and resources on content quality.

We also see the reduction in outsourcing and closure of development studios may lead to industry concentration in the hands of large companies, resulting in monopolization and reduced diversity in the industry. We’ll see fewer new ideas and innovative approaches, with more cookie-cutter service games being released. Small studios often play a crucial role in creating original content.

Why Ukraine Booth?

We are participating in the pavilion because we are Ukrainians and a Ukrainian startup. We would like to confirm that Ukraine is a nation of strong warriors and minds. We create products and solutions that impact the world.

Ukraine has the potential to become a trendsetter, proving that corporations have underestimated the desire for unique experiences, original worlds, and narratives. There’s great excitement for the upcoming releases like “Stalker” and the “Glory to Heroes” shooter.

The Future of the Ukrainian Game Dev: Risks and Perspectives

We face the same risks as every business and individual in Ukraine. The business has simply adapted and learned to operate under heightened risk conditions.

As for the future, the QPM team sees several key opportunities:

  • Attention from Venture Capital: National-level programs should be established to stimulate new business creation in the industry, job creation, and capital attraction. Programs similar to Sweden’s Film i Väst and Swedish Games Industry should be implemented in Ukraine to attract major studios, create new jobs, and foster the local video game industry.
  • Educational Reform: Introducing entrepreneurship as an academic discipline could spur the creation of more studios. I admire the model in the US, where universities like Stanford provide students with the tools to be creative and scientific, generate ideas, and then help monetize them and attract investment. Stanford manages a $1.5 billion fund, a model that could inspire similar initiatives in Ukraine.

We believe Ukraine can emerge as a global leader in game development, setting new standards for originality and innovation. Stay strong, stand with Ukraine, and visit us at the booth at Gamescom!
