Hologryph

Let’s get acquainted with participating companies of our Ukraine Pavilion. First will go Hologryph – an independent team of talented people who believe in the big future of gaming.

Today, the team commented on the project, challenges for the company and the game dev industry in general, as well as shared the plans for Gamescom 2024! Let’s see what’s there:

Turning Ambitious Ideas into Reality

‘In 2016, a small group of enthusiasts founded a studio in Lviv, Ukraine to fulfill groundbreaking ideas. Since then we have been bringing together millions of players around the world who share the same passion.

As for our current project, we have been waiting for someone to make a game about how you first build a giant car and then travel with your friends for a long time. We couldn’t wait even longer and decided to do it ourselves. *Trumplers (Walkers) are our main feature and innovation in games of this genre.’

* ‘Trampler’ is a customizable, ship-like base that serves as both an exploration hub and loot storage. Originally designed for transporting heavy materials, these vessels can traverse both land and water, making them the ultimate mobile base for players teaming up in a vast open world.’ To learn more about the SAND game, visit the official website.

Navigating through the War and Industry Crisis

‘Our current situation is the military invasion by Russia and the crisis in the gaming industry as a whole (issues with AAA games and overproduction of media content in general).

Now we have to try to meet the budget and deadlines, not only against the usual challenges from competitive products and the struggle for the attention of players, but also to solve the issues of security for colleagues and their families, planning in the face of rocket attacks, planned and emergency power outages, and how to maintain the ability to create something that will change the world for the better in the face of constant terrible challenges.

Hologryph has lost a lot of money on relocating employees from the war zone. What’s more, It has become more difficult to find and hire people, plan work hours, and so on.

But there’s some good news as well! We have overcome all the difficulties so far with the help of the publisher, both financially and with a good attitude to those challenges. Mutual assistance is very important in any team. And I am glad that we have it.’

Ukraine Pavilion as Part of such Mutual Assistance

‘The COVID and then the Russian military invasion led to the fact that the Ukrainian community has been isolated for almost 5 years. And we all know how important the exchange of experience is for development. That’s why we’re part of the Ukraine booth today.

We want to meet as many people in Europe as possible to make great games together in the future!’

Future of the Ukrainian Game Dev Industry

‘Ukraine is one of the few countries in the world where developers from Ukraine play all roles in game development. The full spectrum. From mobile to AAA, from outsourcing to studios with their own IP. I hope this will continue and good games will be released on this foundation.

What do we need to make the industry prosper again? The end of the war. Reforms that will create stability for business, cause probably for several years we will only be catching up with what we could not realize because of the war.’

As the Hologryph team, we stay positive and believe that with strength and teamwork, the good will win in the end. Even with all the challenges, we stick together, hopeful that brighter days are ahead!
